Jesús del Hoyo

An event during which we’ll explore the thrilling process of transforming a creative idea into a high-quality printed product. This debate, chaired by Víctor Palau, editor and director of Gràffica, will feature Jesús Del Hoyo, dean emeritus of the Graphic Designers’ Association of Catalonia, together with a leading designer and a renowned printer (both to be confirmed). We’ll address crucial issues such as the devotion of printers and the care they take to transfer designers’ ideas to the printed item, creating products that excel in a highly digitised market. We’ll analyse the differences between offset and digital printing and the various kinds of current-day digital printing and their respective benefits and drawbacks. We’ll also discuss the importance of paper finishes and supports in large projects and we’ll predict the future of the printing industry: Where are we headed in the coming decades? Once the apocalyptic visions about the end of the “book” have been put to one side, this round table will discuss the current state, health and co-existence or otherwise of editorial design, the book and the magazine in the physical and virtual environments.
